Birdcage Veils: Vintage Glamour Meets Modern Chic

For the past few years, the birdcage veil has become very popular among brides wanting to wear something different on their wedding day. More and more brides are choosing to ditch the tulle and wear netting instead for their special day. Stylish and romantic, these cute little birdcage veils cover just enough of your face in a very delicate way as you walk down the aisle. They make for an absolutely stunning look for any bride!

The birdcage veil reminds me of those “Old Hollywood” glamourous vintage hats, but at the same time they come across as something modern and chic. There are many styles, shapes and sizes to choose from, depending on your personal preference. Just to name a few, you can choose a birdcage veil with a blusher, an angle, a wedge or the masque style which covers your eyes only. Some brides even choose to have their bridesmaids wear colored birdcage veils as well, a little something more to add to the boldness of this wonderful headpiece.

Most birdcage veils are made of French or Russian style netting and can be attached to your hair with a comb or pins. You can choose to wear it down, covering your face or part of your face, and then pull it back for a stylish hair piece that won’t get in the way of your photo shots… even if it’s windy. The veils can be adorned with jeweled or pearled brooches, feathers, silk flowers or a combination.

These are simple enough that you can make them yourself, especially if you have a piece of heirloom jewelry you’d like borrow for the occasion.
