{DIY} Photo Booth Style Save-the-Dates & Invites

It’s very easy to create your very own photo booth styled save-the-date cards or wedding invitations.  You don’t necessarily need to be in an actual photo booth to get the same results; all you need is a little creativity!  Set up a backdrop with either sheets or curtains and have a tripod or some other support for your camera. Set the auto timer and snap away!

If you prefer, have a friend take the photos for you, like Amber and Jimmy did. They picked the four pictures they liked best and gave them to another friend who put them in a photo booth format using Adobe Photoshop, and converted the photos to black and white–all except for the letters and the sign. I think this is such a fun way to announce your wedding to all your friends and family. I love these shots!

If you are a little more computer savvy or know of a friend that is, and have access to Photoshop or similar software, you can pose for your pictures and pretend to be holding the letters instead of actually making them for your photos. Then just upload your photo shots to a computer, open them in Photoshop, and add the letters and wording with your preferred font. Savanah and Chris’s photo booth strip below was home made using just that technique. They just created the vintage photo booth effect and added the letters in Photosh, then had them printed and mailed to all of their family and friends.

Sarah & Jeffrey’s photo booth save-the-date cards were designed in Illustrator. Their photo booth pictures were taken on Sarah’s iMac and then put into photo strips with Photoshop. These are simply adorable!

Julia & Jonathan’s fun and original photo booth wedding invitation is perfect for couples with personalities! I love their creativity and the fact that they included their cat in the making of this clever invite. How cute is that!

for the first Save the Date photostrip you displayed with Amber and Jimmy…where did they have them made into magnets? We’re basing our save the dates off of that style and are having a really hard time finding someone to make them into magnets!

  3. Hi Lauren!
If you are making your own photobooth shots and would like to convert the photos into magnets, try searching online for custom photo magnets services that let you upload your own custom size photos and check for the best deal. Below are a couple of sites I found, hope these help!

  5. Its always great to see something unique when it comes to Save The Dates. So much better than just a piece of paper. I especially like the set where she jumps into her Fiance’s photo set.

    Lauren,

staples and office depot sell large sheets of magnet paper. you can cut and glue your photos to it. works like a charm and you may save money doing it yourself. I do this with photos of my children :)

  8. avatar Ivannia says:

How can i print these out to look authentic as the size needs to be 2×6? what type of paper do I use or who offers a better option?

  9. avatar Crystal says:

Hi Everyone! Thanks for all your comments. Try out the Avery Magnet 8-1/2 x 11 Sheets #3270 for your photo booth prints. They come in a pack of 5; I think this is the best option in terms of printable paper I have found. You can print your photos after editing them on Photoshop or similar software to make them look like photo booth strips and then print them on the Avery magnet sheets. You can also print them on separate photo paper, cut them out and glue them to the magnet paper, whichever works best for you. Hope this helps! http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Products/Crafts-%26-Scrapbooking/Magnet-Sheets/Magnet-Sheets_03270.htm

  1. [...] Then finally, it hit me!  A fabulous idea that speaks to a major interest of mine and my fiance’s.  While I’m still ironing out the details, we will most certainly not have invitations with pockets and inner and outer envelopes and pocketfolds and all that … stuff.  My idea should cost about $3/invitation + some DIY time and potential photo studio costs (like JCPenney studio cost, not professional photographer cost).  I also have a few ideas for save-the-dates, most of which are inspired by these types of cards: [...]
