{DIY Project} Silhouette Art Place Card Frames

While browsing the fabulous Shyla Photography Blog, I came across this DIY project that Shyla worked on as the maid of honor for her best friend’s wedding. She handcrafted these super cute silhouette art place card frames for the guests. Each reception table was represented by a silhouette, so guests had to find their frame name and image on the picture wall and go to their corresponding table. This makes for such a pretty wedding decoration, first as a focal point with all the framed names on a wall, and then as added decor to each reception table.

Here are Shyla’s easy instruction steps. Each name card frame was comprised of 4 layers:
1. Chipboard frames spray-painted black and gold.
2. The names were printed on transparencies to act as “glass”.
3. The silhouettes were printed on cardstock and then they were handcut and assembled with a backing.

You can find very inexpensive small frames at your local craft store or dollar store. Simply do a quick search on the Internet for “silhouette portraits” and you’ll get tons of results for cute clip art images you can use for free. According to Shyla, these silhouette frames took a bit of time to make, but the results were amazing… don’t you think?

If you’re going for this classic and timeless silhouette theme wedding, something fun to have at your reception is a silhouette artist, like Karl Johnson from Cut Arts to make silhouette portraits for your guests on the spot! This could be such a unique wedding favor for guests which they can later hang on their wall and remember your special day.
