Video Game Wedding Invitation

Well, here’s some mid-week lighthearted geekiness for all you engaged couples out there. You know how I’m always saying that personalizing all the details will really make your wedding stand out? How there’s no better way to make your day an extension of your own unique personalities? Well, I can’t think of a better example than an engaged couple sending out a wedding invitation that’s actually a customized video game! It’s an old-school 8-bit side-scroller, just like Super Mario Bros, the kind of thing that reeks of happy nostalgia to geeks of my generation.

I came across this a while back on the always fun and entertaining Offbeat Bride blog, and knew I had to share it. Darina and Niko built their very own wedding invitation video game that lets their guests play as one of them, braving dangerous 8-bit terrain and bad guys in order to get the wedding day details.

“We knew that we didn’t want standard paper invites,” Darina told Offbeat Bride. “We wanted something for people to keep and remember. We are geeks. We love video games. Why not have a video game invite?”

Why not indeed.

The invitations arrived to guests in a jewel CD case with an information booklet and an original soundtrack. What a great keepsake for their friends and family, and it really doesn’t get any more personal than this. You can bet that this couple’s wedding details won’t be forgotten anytime soon!
