By now you probably know my fondness for great iPhone apps, and for you gown-hunting brides, here’s another one to add to your collection of helpful mobile planning tools. It’s brought to you by the folks at BRIDES magazine in partnership with the developers of NearbyNow, right here in my neck of the woods in Mountain View, CA. The app is called Bride’s Dressing Room, available totally free for your iPhone or iPod touch.
Just released this past month on the iTunes store, and billed as “the first-ever digital shopping concierge for brides on the go” by BRIDES magazine, the app allows you to browse through wedding and bridesmaids dresses by designer, silhouette, and price. Look up specific details like neckline, length, sleeve style, and so forth, and zoom into product photos to really get a good look at the finer details.
The great thing about the app is that it’s not just a browse-and-research tool; it’s a store finder and appointment-making tool as well. You can check availability within a 50 mile radius just by tapping “Find It Near Me.” Then, see if it’s available to try on by posting a request for the Brides Dressing Room “concierge team” to contact the store on your behalf and schedule an appointment for you based on your and the store’s availability. You get your appointment confirmation in minutes by email or text message, along with the salesperson’s name you’ll be meeting when you get to the store. All on the go. Now that’s convenience!
